Looking Ahead: What’s Next for CMSA in 2026

As we move into 2026, one thing is clear: case management continues to evolve—and CMSA is committed to ensuring our members are prepared, supported, and leading the way. From advanced education and immersive conferences to leadership development and professional recognition, the year ahead is filled with opportunities to grow, connect, and shape the future of the profession together.
We begin the year with one of CMSA’s cornerstone educational offerings: Spring 2026 Integrated Case Management (ICM) Training, taking place April 27–29, live via Zoom.
Based on the Integrated Case Management Manual (2nd Edition), this comprehensive training is designed for case managers at all levels who want to strengthen their ability to engage clients, stratify risk, and develop integrated care plans that support improved health outcomes. Through a blend of self-study and highly interactive virtual sessions, participants will build practical, immediately applicable skills grounded in real-world case management practice.
The program includes five online training modules, quizzes, case studies, communication exercises, and supervised role-play using ICM tools. Participants who complete the course will earn 28.5 RN, SW, and CCM continuing education credits, while gaining skills that support complex, high-cost client/patient populations across physical and behavioral health settings. Registration closes April 3, with pre-work due by April 20.
From June 16–19, CMSA will gather in Las Vegas for the 2026 CMSA Annual Conference & Expo, guided by the theme: Building Tomorrow Through Case Management Excellence.
Designed to meet the needs of case managers across every setting and career stage, the 2026 conference expands on CMSA’s long-standing strengths: high-quality education, intentional networking, and meaningful connection. With dozens of educational tracks ranging from health equity and behavioral health to leadership, technology, and value-based reimbursement, attendees can tailor their experience while gaining insights that transcend specialty boundaries.
This year’s program also includes three powerful pre-conference workshops focused on writing and publication, innovation through empathy mapping, and career advancement through resume development. The conference opens with keynote speaker Rhonda Manns, presenting Beyond Limits: Unlocking an Innovative Mindset, and closes with Terry Foster, whose keynote on humor in healthcare highlights resilience as a professional skill.
The Expo Hall returns with more than 100 industry vendors, offering opportunities to explore new tools, exchange ideas, and build partnerships that support excellence in practice. Attendees can also look forward to a special announcement at the conference on something new and forward-looking that reflects CMSA’s continued investment in the future of case management. The conference will be held at the Mandalay Bay Resort, with discounted room rates available beginning at $178++ per night. It’s a family affair at Mandalay’s 11-acre water park, so turn this unparalleled professional development experience into the vacation case managers desperately need.
Following the success of its inaugural year, CMSA’s Virtual Leadership Conference returns on October 6. This full-day, live virtual event is designed for case management professionals and executives ready to elevate their leadership impact, strengthen strategic influence, and stay ahead of industry change. Continuing education credits will be available for RN, SW, CCM, CDMS, and CPHQ.
Just days later, CMSA will proudly celebrate National Case Management Week, October 11–17. No one celebrates CM Week like CMSA! Expect top-tier education, networking opportunities, advocacy, prizes, and a few fun surprises along the way.
CMSA MVD Day will be held virtually in November with a robust program to meet the needs of our case managers supporting the VA, military services and DoD/DHA.
Throughout 2026, CMSA chapters will continue to deliver outstanding local education and events, while members benefit from exclusive engagement opportunities through our five Special Interest Groups. Our Educational Resource Library will remain available 24/7, offering on-demand learning, free CEs for members, and high-quality discounted training for professionals at every level.
CMSA Today will deliver a thoughtfully curated lineup of issues throughout 2026, complemented by twice-weekly CMSA blogs that keep you informed on emerging trends, practice insights, and professional perspectives shaping case management.
CMSA will also continue to recognize excellence across the profession through awards and honors, including the prestigious Fellow in Case Management (FCM) designation. The Class of 2026 Fellows will be recognized at the Annual Conference in June, celebrating leadership, impact, and service to the profession.
Everything ahead in 2026 reflects CMSA’s commitment to advancing case management through education, connection, leadership, and recognition. For those not yet part of the CMSA community, there has never been a better time to join. Membership offers year-round access to trusted education, professional connection, advocacy, and resources designed to support your work and elevate your impact. Whether you join us virtually or in person, locally or nationally, we look forward to building tomorrow, together, through case management excellence.
