CMSA Membership Is EPIC

CMSA Case Management Boot Camp Spring 2023. CMSA STAFF

In 2022, a key foundation project for CMSA was the development of a new CMSA Strategic Plan — EPIC — which was launched during the 2022 CMSA Annual Conference in Orlando. With a clear pathway for success, CMSA is able to focus on improving professional growth opportunities for CMSA members and all case managers across the healthcare continuum. This EPIC plan (Education, Public relations/policy, Increased membership and Collaboration) sets the stage for increased member value, expanded educational offerings and better visibility for case managers with the public and on Capitol Hill.

Here are just a few EPIC highlights from CMSA so far this year:
Education — Boot Camp

In March, case managers from a variety of disciplines, experience and settings came together for two-and-a-half days to build their foundational knowledge of case management. With interactive and engaging learning using real-life scenarios and practical application, instructors Rebecca Perez and Melanie Prince offered best practices and invaluable direction during this first-of-its-kind program.

Education — Conference Speaker Lineup

CMSA announced yet another stellar lineup of keynote and educational session speakers aimed at providing timely and relevant information with innovative solutions to challenges case managers face every day. CMSA’s 33rd Annual Conference, June 27-20, 2023, at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, promises to be the best one yet, with informative discussions covering topics such as care coordination, patient engagement, value-based care, best practices in case management and so much more.

Education — Case Management Adherence and Transitions of Care Guide: Hepatic Encephalopathy

CMSA has just released a new, complimentary CMAG-TOC for Hepatic Encephalopathy, made possible by support from Bausch Health/Salix Pharmaceuticals. This guide provides the information needed to ensure effective and safe care coordination and care transitions for those experiencing hepatic encephalopathy (HE) related to liver disease. The CMAG-TOC for HE is based on content featured in CMSA’s CMAG 2020.

Public Relations/Policy — Virtual Hill Visits
In early March, over 50 case managers representing CMSA and the professional practice of case management met virtually with over 30 members of Congress and their staff to advocate for CMSA’s public policy priorities: Workforce Development, Mental Health and Telehealth. Participants worked to educate legislators about the importance of case managers and the critical role they serve in improving patient health outcomes. This important event helped to elevate the practice and the immediate needs of case managers nationwide.
Increasing Membership — Chapter Support — CLRC, Coffee Connects
CMSA’s strength can be found in the federation of independent CMSA chapters, run by dedicated volunteers to deliver value locally to case managers. CMSA is committed to providing support, tools and resources to help expand the effectiveness of each chapter through the Chapter Leader Resource Center, monthly Chapter Leader Coffee Connects and more. Through the chapter network, additional education and networking benefits are available.
Collaborative Relationships — ALCA, ACPA, CMI, CCMC, NQF, URAC, NOBC
CMSA is committed to working with affiliated groups to strengthen the value for its members. In 2023, CMSA has partnered with ACPA, ALCA, CCMC, CMI, NOBC, NQF and URAC to represent case management, add value for the membership and expand awareness about the practice. The CMSA Strategic Plan was designed to keep CMSA focused on a path that will achieve the mission of the organization and stay true to the envisioned future of case management.

CMSA MISSION
